  1. Cincinnati, OH—Inventor Jim Mariol, a UC College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning alumnus was granted a design patent for a “Toy Automobile” in 1982.
  2. Milwaukee, WI—The indoor soccer team has been around since 1984 and is the current champion of the Major Arena Soccer League.
  3. Ann Arbor, MI—Domino’s got its start in Ypsilanti back in 1960 but its headquarters is now located in Ann Arbor. The pizza chain began when Tom Monaghan and his brother, James, took over the operation of DomiNick’s, the existing location of a small pizza restaurant chain. The purchase price was $500.
